Support Juan B. Mancias in Preserving Tribal Lands
Tax deductible
Hi, I am Juan B. Mancias, tribal chairman of the Carrizo Comecrudo Nation. We see the hard times that we are having with flash flooding in South Texas, where our lands have come under fire by the oil industry in setting up the Rio Bravo pipeline.
We would like to find ways to do more research on the bills the state of Texas is presenting this year. Many of the bills introduced will affect the houseless and may increase houseless situations where our support will be needed. Our men and women of the tribe have stood strong against the heat of law enforcement in not providing adequate attention to the houseless and the indigent communities throughout Texas, especially tribal communities or individuals.
So, we are asking for assistance and support to reach our goal to further maintain, preserve, and protect the history, the environment, and the true languages of Texas. We’re concerned with the real enemy, which is ignorance. We would like to form our first Native American university in Texas to prevent any further misinformation on the invasion of Texas in the Rio Grande River. Please help achieve our goal to educate the ignorance of not knowing the real history of genocidal Texas. Carrizo Comecrudo are the original autochthonous native people of the Rio Grande Valley. Many of these places are sacred to us and we are concerned about the flooding and the ongoing heat index that will follow this summer. We’re mainly concerned because of our sacred sites like Garcia Pasture being threatened and their environment destroyed. The Carrizo Comecrudo Nation of Texas lives solidly its mission to serve the humanity of the area, preserve the language and life ways, and protect the sacred lands of our ancestors who have faced their ongoing tribal erasure by corporate America. We have to remember that corporations are not human and have no human rights. Human rights belong to the living, breathing, sentient beings who continue to survive.
