Help Our Brother in his time of Need

Our family is reaching out with broken hearts to ask for your love, prayers, and support in a situation we never imagined we’d face.

Our brother JT, who has been working in Japan as a government-contracted engineer, suddenly became critically ill just days before he was supposed to come home. After nearly a week in the hospital fighting advanced lung and kidney failure, doctors diagnosed him with a rare and aggressive autoimmune disease called PR3+ ANCA-associated Vasculitis with GPA.

JT is currently in the ICU at a regional hospital in Japan. He remains critically ill but stable, facing a long and uncertain road to recovery.

Because of strict hospital protocols and a 13-hour time difference, our communication with him has been heartbreakingly limited. He’s been fighting this battle largely alone in a foreign country, as his work team has already returned to the U.S. Thankfully, after several difficult days, we were able to get his older sisters, Erin and Mary, to Japan to be by his side.

Doctors estimate JT will need to remain hospitalized in Japan for at least another four weeks—possibly longer—until he’s strong enough to be medically transferred home.

Unfortunately, U.S. medical insurance is not accepted in Japan, which means every part of his hospital stay, life-saving treatment, and eventual transport home must be paid out of pocket. In addition, the travel and living expenses for our family to be with him have created an overwhelming financial strain.

As a family, we’ve always leaned on each other and found strength within our own circle. But this situation is beyond what we can manage alone. We are now turning to our extended family, friends, and kind-hearted samaritan's who may feel moved to help us bring JT home.

Your donation—of any size—will go directly toward JT’s medical care, his medical transport to the U.S., and his continued treatment once he’s back home. Please know that every prayer, words of encouragement, and share of JT’s story means more to us than we can express.
