Hi, my name is Thomas. I’m raising money for my older brother John, or as many know him, Jr.

When he was in high school, he was involved in a car accident that caused him to have back issues from a young age. Around 5 years ago, he had surgery to help fix some of his back issues, and at the time, he opted for the lesser surgery, which had less potential for complications but didn’t fully repair his issues.

On October 22, 2025, he was having back pain and losing strength, causing him to fall from weakness in his back. At one point, he took a fall and was not able to get up as he lost use of his legs and was transported by ambulance to the ER. Once there, they did an MRI and found the damage on his spine was back and pinching the nerve, causing his paralysis. He was rushed into emergency surgery to help alleviate the pinch, and this time he opted for the larger surgery with a higher possibility of complications in hopes it will improve his quality of life and help with the day-to-day pain he deals with. However, there was a complication, and his spinal cord was nicked, causing further damage which would require a much longer recovery. He has since been transferred to a long-term care facility and is undergoing PT multiple times a week. However, the facility he was able to get into is beginning to impact his mental health as the only facility with openings is just not providing the care and support he needs, and he is really wanting to go home to recover with family who can help care for him. This is where we need help!

We have found a lot of the required medical devices he would need at home for proper care. However, he will require a stair lift like the one linked that will allow his family to help get him in and out of his room for regular doctor visits and physical therapy while he works to regain control of his lower body in hopes to walk again. Any help is very much appreciated, and any extra will go towards installing wheelchair ramps to give him the freedom to get around his home and make things easier for his way of life.
