On May 15, the world suffered an unimaginable loss when Justin James Roettger was tragically taken from us.
JRock was more than just a team member; he was a core member of the family at The Crofoot. For those who have ever attended an event at the venue, whether it was a concert, wedding, or special event, was to have felt the special impact he made there.
He brought an unwavering dedication and genuine kindness to everything he did.
Whether it was providing weddings tours, crafting specialty cocktails, providing amusing stories, or going out of his way to lend a helping hand, he took pride in his work, showed up without fail, and always went the extra mile—not for recognition, but because it was simply who he was.
He prided himself on being able to bring happiness to all those around him and advocated against injustice. He looked out for everyone—colleagues, guests, family, community members — and believed in equity, compassion, and the greater good for all.
His dedication to Mary "Mama Rock" Roettger was fierce and unwavering. Not only spending his time taking care of her, but truly living every single day with her. They enjoyed weekly trips to the Farmer's Market, checking out the latest films, running errands, laughing and pranking one another, traveling, attending rallies in support of human rights/women's rights, cooking together, lounging and watching their favorite shows on a weekly basis and so much more. Mary was more than a mother to Justin, she was his best friend and partner in crime.
His presence made people feel safe, seen, and heard. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts. To know JRock was to know loyalty, humility, and love.
In the days ahead, we will find ways to honor Justin’s memory and the legacy of compassion and service he leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 @ The Crofoot Ballroom. All are welcome at this memorial show in honor of JRock.
We are asking for help to cover living expenses, legal fees, and provide ongoing support for JRock's mom, Mary Roettger, as she begins to process this unimaginable loss and navigate the days ahead. Anything you can give, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page, will make a difference.
Thank you for helping us honor JRock’s memory and support the mother he loved so dearly.
Rest in peace, JRock. We love you, we miss you, and you will forever be in our hearts.
