In November 2024, life changed overnight for Joyel Jeremiah and her family when she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had already spread to her bones and brain. The past 16 months have been filled with radiation, immunotherapy, endless scans, biopsies and procedures but through it all Joyel has shown extraordinary strength. Whether you know Joyel from childhood days in Ewa, teenage years in pearl City or from her 20+ years at Hawaiian Airlines – you know she has always been the first person rushing to the rescue of her friends and family – never asking for anything in return. Now, during the most difficult fight of her life, it’s our chance to support her.
Joyel’s new reality has made it impossible for her to continue working – while her amazing husband Rylan balances his role as sole provider and full time caregiver. This journey has unfolded during huge life moments for her kids: Legend preparing to graduate high school in June and Kalea navigating the complicated world of middle school. These are seasons meant to be filled with joy, celebration and stability. Joyel and Rylan are taking every action to maintain normalcy for their children, while facing overwhelming medical bills and ongoing expenses.
This fundraiser has been created to help ease the financial burden of medical bills so Joyel and her family can focus on what matters most – her health, healing and their time together as a family. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a world of difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing Joyel’s story to help spread the word and support this incredible family.
This fundraiser is organized by Jaycie Wright and Lori Rodriguez
