Joyce Butterfield has always been a ray of sunshine to those around her, but in the past year, her world has changed dramatically. Since June 8, 2025, Joyce has suffered three strokes and a heart attack, leaving her with significant health challenges. She lost her job and now has no source of income, making it nearly impossible to cover basic necessities like rent and food. The strokes caused cognitive damage and severe short-term memory loss, making even simple tasks difficult and finding work nearly impossible. Joyce has also lost vision in her right eye, adding to her daily struggles.
Her health challenges are compounded by chronic pain from a car accident five years ago and fibromyalgia, which means she lives with constant discomfort. Joyce’s mobility is limited—she can only walk for short periods before the pain becomes unbearable, and she urgently needs an electric wheelchair to regain some independence. During a recent two-month hospital and rehabilitation stay, Joyce’s car was repossessed because she couldn’t afford the payments or insurance. When she returned home, her landlord served her a 60-day eviction notice, despite her being current on rent, out of fear for her health. Now, Joyce relies on the kindness of friends for temporary housing, but she needs a more permanent place to call home. The waiting period for state or county housing assistance is over a year, and she needs help with cognitive therapy and mobility aids in the meantime.
Joyce is facing tremendous anxiety about her future—where she will live, how she will manage her health, and whether she will have the support she needs to recover. She worries about the possibility of another stroke or heart attack and the uncertainty of her situation weighs heavily on her. Please, if you are able, offer Joyce words of encouragement and support as she navigates this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, will help Joyce regain hope and stability. Thank you for your kindness, and God bless you.

Joyce just got her results back from her latest MRI and the prognosis is not good. She now has cystic encephalomalacia, which is irreversible brain damage, that will continue to affect her mobility, vision, and cognitive abilities. She is at risk for seizures and there is no cure. She is still waiting on SSDI approval and until then she struggles every day to cover basic necessities.
