There are people who give so much of themselves that the world feels a little brighter just because they’re in it. Joyce Donaldson is one of those people.

She’s a devoted single mom to two amazing children—Ruby, her beautiful autistic daughter who fills every day with laughter and light, and Declan, her 19-year-old son whose quiet strength and protective heart mirror his mother’s resilience. Together, they’ve built a home filled with humor, love, and unwavering care for one another.

Joyce has spent her life showing up for others—whether it’s through kindness, loyalty, or the steady comfort of a friend who truly listens. She’s the one who gives her last bit of anything to someone in need, who reminds others they’re not alone, and who carries more than her share without complaint.

But now, it’s Joyce’s turn to be lifted up.

What began as a simple doctor’s visit led to the unexpected discovery of a tumor in her kidney. The diagnosis—kidney cancer—came as a shock. Soon, Joyce will undergo surgery to remove her right kidney and nearby tissue. If cancer is found beyond that area, she’ll face months of weekly travel to Iowa City for treatment.

As Joyce focuses on healing and continuing to care for Ruby and Declan, she faces time away from work, medical costs, and travel expenses. This fundraiser is our chance—as friends, family, and community—to give back even a fraction of the love she’s poured into others for so long.
