Hi everyone,
My name is Joyce Wang, and I’m incredibly excited (and honestly still in shock) to share that I’ve officially qualified to compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships this November in Marbella, Spain!
This moment has been four years in the making.
In 2021, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, I found myself stuck in a rut and needing a new challenge. I chose one that terrified me: triathlons. I could barely swim a lap, feared cold water, and didn’t own a a proper bike. But I’ve always believed that growth happens when you face what scares you most. So I went all in and signed up for an Ironman 70.3: a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run.
Fast forward to April 5, 2025—I crossed the finish line at my fifth Ironman 70.3 in Oceanside, CA and earned a coveted spot at the World Championships. Out of nearly 2,500 athletes, I made it. It still feels surreal.
Now comes the hard part: the cost.
Between travel, lodging, race fees, gear, and ongoing training expenses, the financial commitment to compete on the world stage is daunting. I currently work full-time and train 12–15 hours a week to give this everything I’ve got—but I can’t do it alone.
That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe—to humbly ask for your help.
Whether it’s $5 or $50, every contribution will help cover the expenses that stand between me and the opportunity to represent my journey, and everyone who’s believed in me.
This isn’t just about racing. It’s about showing that it’s never too late to take on something that seems impossible. It’s about chasing growth, embracing discomfort, and proving to ourselves what we’re truly capable of.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you for reading, supporting, and cheering me on. I can’t wait to make you all proud in Spain.
With so much gratitude,
Joyce Wang
