Joyce Lynn is an accomplished and beloved singer, actor, and voice teacher based in New York City. I’ve had the privilege of studying The Bel Canto Method of singing with her for over three years, and we’ve shared the stage together in “The DIVA Cycle” of plays. Joyce’s career spans decades—she sang with the New York City Opera for 30 years, produced and directed with her own theater company for over 10 years, and has mentored singers like me for more than 60 years. Her passion for music and teaching is matched only by her loyalty as a friend and her love for Notre Dame Football.
In December 2025, Joyce’s life changed dramatically when she tripped while caring for her dachshund, Nicolausse, and suffered a fractured hip. The injury required both heart and hip surgeries, and she spent over a month in the hospital. Joyce returned home last week, but now needs 24/7 in-home care to support her recovery and rehabilitation. Although she’s been approved for NY State medical assistance, the aid is delayed until February 2026. In the meantime, her daily care costs are quickly exhausting her savings, putting her at risk of losing her care, her home, and her independence.
Funds raised by this campaign will go directly to pay for Joyce’s in-home care while she waits for her state aid to arrive. Joyce has always opened her home and heart to her students, friends, and community. Her apartment on the Upper West Side is filled with memories of a life dedicated to music and the people she loves. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her. Please consider donating what you can to help Joyce heal, rehabilitate, and overcome this financial hardship. Any support you can give is deeply appreciated by Joyce and all of us blessed to be in her life. Thank you!
