Hello, my name is Jaymee, and I am the cousin of Joy Peji-Villassis. I am reaching out with a heavy heart to urgently ask for financial help and prayers for Joy, who is currently fighting for her life.

Joy is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and remains in critical condition. She is intubated, with a nasogastric tube and catheter in place. On January 5, she was rushed to the Emergency Department due to bleeding. After further examinations, doctors discovered that her Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) has caused serious complications affecting her lungs and heart.

Joy is only 30 years old. She has been bravely battling SLE since 2019, a painful and life-threatening autoimmune disease. Because of this illness, she had to give up her dream job as a seafarer. Still, she never gave up—she started a small candle and invitation business to help support her family.

In 2024, Joy married the love of her life, Dio. Soon after, she became pregnant. Despite repeated lupus flare-ups, Joy endured a very difficult pregnancy, doing everything she could to keep her baby safe. In September 2024, she gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Sophia.

What should have been the happiest time of her life quickly turned into a heartbreaking nightmare.

After giving birth, Joy’s condition rapidly worsened. She developed severe rashes, loss of appetite, extreme weakness, and difficulty walking. Her immune system is now critically compromised. Today, Joy lies bedridden in the ICU, fighting for her life, while her newborn daughter waits for her mother.

Joy is a loving daughter, caring sister, family breadwinner, devoted wife, and first-time mother. She is still so young and desperately wants to live—to raise her daughter, to be with her husband, and to continue supporting her family.

We humbly ask for your urgent prayers and financial assistance. Joy does not have private health insurance. Her husband, a new seafarer, cannot return to work because he must care for Joy 24/7. Her younger siblings are still studying, and their small laundry business is not enough to cover the rapidly increasing hospital and ICU bills. Her parents are also not financially well-off.
