Help a First-Gen Graduate Become a Future Dentist Committed to Equity in Healthcare

Hi, my name is Jovita, and I’m a recent graduate of Brandeis University pursuing my dream of becoming a dentist. As a first-generation, low-income student, I’ve worked tirelessly to overcome barriers on my journey. I need support to take the next step towards my path in dentistry: applying to dental school.

The dental school application process is not only competitive but also expensive and complex—creating significant obstacles for students like me. From testing fees to application costs and travel expenses for interviews, the financial burden is overwhelming.

Yet, the need for Black doctors and dentists has never been more urgent. We need more healthcare professionals who understand and reflect the communities they serve, who provide compassionate care, and who advocate for patient's rights in a system that too often excludes marginalized voices.

I’m committed to becoming a dentist who serves underserved communities, advances health equity, and helps increase representation in a field that has historically made it difficult for people like me to gain access.
