Hi, my name is Lizmarjorie, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my sister-in-law’s husband, Jovani, and his wife, Shakira.

Jovani has recently been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, and this has been incredibly difficult for their family. Just one week after celebrating their wedding on April 25th, they received this heartbreaking news.

Jovani and Shakira have been together since middle school, growing up side by side and building a life together over the years. He proposed in February 2023, but shortly after, in August of that same year, they were faced with his first cancer diagnosis. Because of this, they had to postpone their wedding and focus on his treatment and recovery.

After a long and difficult journey, they finally received the beautiful news in March 2025 that he was cancer-free. They were able to move forward with their dream of getting married, only to now be faced with this unimaginable challenge once again.

Together, they are raising their beautiful 1-year-old daughter, and during this time, their focus needs to be on his health and their family—not the stress of finances.

I am creating this GoFundMe to help support Shakira, as the funds will go directly to her to assist with medical bills, treatments, and maintaining stability at home while she cares for her husband and their baby girl.

Jovani is a loving husband and devoted father who means so much to our family. We want to come together and support them in any way we can during this incredibly challenging time.
