Jourdan's friends and family wanted to take a minute and tell you about what Jourdan has been experiencing this past week. Jourdan is a kind, driven, caring mother who has been struggling with lupus and kidney transplant rejection over the past several years. Jourdan is in end stage renal failure and receives dialysis 3 days a week.

On Tuesday, Jourdan was sitting on her back porch after dialysis with her 6 year old daughter and her daughter’s friend. The girls said that Jourdan started laughing then shaking then fell and hit her head on a large metal fire pit table. The doctors are not exactly sure why Jourdan lost consciousness but the injures she sustained from the fall are devastating.

After being rushed to the hospital and evaluated the doctors found Jourdan had suffered bleeding in brain and abdomen. She also fractured her pelvis, hip, femur, left shoulder, and spine. The physicians think her bones may have lost density due to her kidney failure. Since being in the hospital Jourdan has undergone 2 surgeries to fix her pelvis, hip, and femur, including a full hip replacement. She has had to lay completely flat due to her spinal injury. She has been fitted for a full upper body "turtle shell" to fix her spine and allow her to sit up.

She will have to wear the upper body “turtle shell” for up to 13 weeks due to her spinal injury. She must be “non weight baring” for 6 weeks due to her pelvis fracture.

Jourdan is going to have a long road of recovery in front of her. She will need intense physical therapy and rehabilitation due to her injuries. I am asking two things. I would like to be able to immediately relieve some of the financial burdens Jourdan is facing. Any donation amount would be greatly and truly appreciated.

Secondly, Jourdan has been is in need of a Kidney for several years now. Her donor needs to have O blood type. If you have any interest in testing to see if you could be Jourdan’s living donor it would mean the world to her and her family. She is currently registered with UPMC’s living donor program. If you are interested, please list her full name “Jourdan Gerrich” at the website below. If you are unsure of your blood type your PCP may know. You can also order blood type testing kits on amazon. You can register for testing at https://livingdonorreg.upmc.com

I truly thank you for taking the time to hear what Jourdan has been going through. We apricate any and everything! Even if that’s just sharing this fundraiser to spread the word!
