Hello Relatives,
My name is Josue. I'm originally from Mexico. I came to the US at 11 years old with my mother to seek a better life. My story is the story of many. I was raised by a single mother who worked 7 days a week, sometimes 3 jobs at a time to make ends meet. Early on, I was told by society that my future in this country was to be a laborer; however, I always knew I was an artist. I was raised by two parents that were photographers, so I knew the power of visual storytelling and the impact that it can have in shifting narratives and allowing us to heal. As someone who has lived in the shadows of society as an undocumented person for the last 25 years, while documenting important social justice movements and BIPOC communities, I can say that this is the most dangerous time for me and my family to be here without a clear path to citizenship. After getting my DACA denied twice by the previous administration, we've made the urgent decision to leave the country for Germany to seek a new life there where my wife is a citizen. My commitment to activating visual storytelling as a tool for transformation remains stronger than ever. As we see people taken away from the streets for using their freedom of speech and for standing up for human rights, we know that they will come after the artists, thinkers, and intellectuals next. My intention is to rebuild my life in another country and process the last 25 years of uncertainty while exercising my freedom to create, live in peace and be of service to this crucial time in human history.
With your support, we will be able to safely exit the country, ship our belongings to Berlin, cover our travel for a family of 4 and any legal fees related to my status adjustment.

Tlazocamati (Thank you)
