Josie is a 7 year old bully mix.
Her white hair and spots are only one of her most adorable features. She grows practically zero fur on her belly and is all pink like a little piggy.
Sadly because of her pigment and lack of fur she has become basically allergic to the sun. ☀️ Sun bathing and rolling in the dirt are her favorite things to do!
This year JoJo developed a Squamish tumor from the sun. The tumor grew extremely fast but we were able to get it removed. Leaving behind a handful of smaller sores, the vet and we were hopeful those would heal on their own. Some did but one grew into another very large tumor.
Josie needs to have surgery again and this time we are going to try to remove all large and small growths.
Our silly, lovable, sun bathing baby bear has now been transitioned into an inside dog. (Dog sunscreen does not work ) And our attempts to put her in T-shirts were futile against her smarty pants who figured out if she rolled enough she could get the shirt off!
The first surgery to remove one tumor was $1600. We are doing mapping today to pin point the next round of removals. This round will likely be the last as she will not have enough belly skins to continue to stretch and stitch. This surgery is estimated to be near $2500.
If you know Jo you know she is pure love and perfection. She has the sweetest pit bull smile, the most adorable pointy ears. She loves absolutely everyone, human and animal a like. She is our baby, my cuddle partner every night for bed time. And the face I am grateful to wake up to every morning.
