Support Josie NesSmith and Nino Caponigro After a Tragic Accident

On the morning of December 27th at 5:50 a.m., Josie NesSmith was involved in a tragic vehicle accident that changed her life in an instant.

Josie was rushed immediately into emergency surgery. She suffered a femur broken in multiple places, the loss of her spleen, and, most heartbreakingly, the loss of her unborn baby, “Lefty James,” at 33 weeks gestation.

Josie faces a long and uncertain road to recovery. Josie has 120 hours of annual and sick leave combined that will help with her insurance for approximately 12 weeks, this will ONLY cover her insurance so she will not be receiving a paycheck. She will be required to have extensive medical care and rehabilitation for far more longer than the 12 weeks. She is expected to remain hospitalized for an unknown amount of time.

During this unimaginable time, Josie needs her partner, Nino Caponigro, by her side—as anyone would. Nino is currently unable to work so he can remain with Josie and support her physically and emotionally throughout her recovery. Together, they are also trying to care for their 9-month-old son, Ace, whose needs continue even as their world has been turned upside down.

With both parents unable to work, the financial burden—including medical bills, insurance costs, daily living expenses, and care for baby Ace—is quickly becoming overwhelming.
