Hello good people,
My name is Josiah Johnson. I am excited and nervous to announce my crowdfunding campaign to raise research and development (R&D) funds for my first feature documentary as a fiction filmmaker. The R&D includes making a proof-of-concept short film.
I surmise this historical documentary will evolve, but my core purpose is to investigate and honor a local heroine known as Mother Maude Ford, through observations, interviews, music, and a few reenactments. Inspired by the works of Stanley Nelson and Ken Burns, my multimodal film, The Maude Ford Story, will be a transcendental piece that centers on the intersection of gender, race, ethnicity, and Christianity, challenging stereotypes while addressing and countering exegetical arguments against women who hold leadership positions. The Maude Ford Story will highlight contributions made by immigrants to American society.
I’m an independent, award-winning, fiction filmmaker based in Queens, New York, with a passion for championing misrepresented and underrepresented heroes while promoting love and peace.
If you are interested in a film about faith, courage, community spirit, the American Dream, or the 100-year impact of a working-class heroine from Queens, New York, consider joining our campaign. I will give special thanks to every donor in the film credits.
During the present moment of fear and division, The Maude Ford Story is designed to inspire togetherness and healing for a hurting nation. I am ever grateful for you going on this film journey with me. Please share my fundraiser with others. Together, we will make history.
Much love and peace to you!
