This is Joshua Ponce, my little brother. Joshua is 17 years old and also goes by Tito! He is the youngest of our family of 6 and is also a soon to be father of a baby girl! If you know him, you know he’s a vibrant, caring, and loving young man! He graduated early and began to work in construction.

On September 12th, Joshua was taken to the emergency room due to chest pain that was affecting his sleep and daily activities. After several tests, a large mass was found in his liver.

That same night, he was transported to Oschner Children’s hospital in New Orleans. A biopsy was performed, and a week later he was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer known as hepatic carcinoma. In the following weeks, Joshua had an MRI and had a full body PET scan done to see if the cancer spread to other places. We discovered the cancer started in his liver, and also has begun to move to his chest and spine bone. On October 9th, Joshua started his first chemotherapy treatment. Joshua will continue undergoing chemotherapy treatments to shrink the size of the tumor, in order to perform surgery in the future. Tito’s life has changed so much but he is definitely a fighter!
