Hi everyone, my name is Joshua Manning, and I’m asking for help after the devastating hurricane that just tore through Jamaica. My family’s home, our church, and even the nearby hospital were all destroyed. We’ve lost almost everything — including vital medical supplies.

For the past three days, I haven’t been able to reach my dad. He has epilepsy, and with the power lines and telephone poles all knocked down, I have no way to know if he’s okay. That worry has been the hardest part — not knowing if he’s safe, if he has his medicine, or if he even has a roof over his head. Most people in the west of the island would have to travel to ocho ríos ( north ) to get phone reception which in more than a hr and a half drive on roads the aren’t there anymore.

Most of the homes in my town were made of board, so almost everyone around us is now homeless. Families are struggling to find dry clothes, food, and clean water. Some areas are still flooded, and many parents can’t even find diapers or wipes for their babies. The community I grew up in is hurting deeply — people have lost everything they’ve ever known.

I’m raising funds to help my family and others in our town get back on their feet — to rebuild homes, replace lost supplies, and care for the children and elders who are suffering most.
