Hello. My name is Joshuah Mullin. In 2012, I was in a car accident, with my custom Mossman Wheeler Gospel guitar in the vehicle. When I went to retrieve my belongings from the vehicle, the guitar wasn't in it. I asked everyone I could ask, and everyone I asked claimed that there was never a guitar retrieved from the accident. I'm not speculating anything at all. It literally could have ended up in a hundred different hands between the accident and me getting to the tow lot, but that's neither here nor there. I searched locally for the guitar diligently for a couple of years and finally gave up on the prospect of finding it. I would know it if it showed up. It is the only one like it in existence.
Well, I decided last week to try to locate it again. I put out a post on Facebook and got in touch with a collector in California who had a Mossman Wheeler Gospel in his collection that he inherited from his father. There were 2 very distinct identifiers unique to the guitar that I owned. First, there was about a 6-inch repair on the lower bout of the guitar. Second, the guitar was custom-made and had a handwritten custom label inside the soundhole. This guitar was the one that I lost 12 years ago.
After communicating with the collector, he agreed to sell it back to me for $3000 plus shipping, which is a very fair price for a custom handmade guitar, and certainly a price that I'd be willing to pay to have this guitar back. After sharing the news that it had been located, several people recommended that I start a GoFundMe to help offset some of that price. It would mean a ton to get this guitar back in my hands. I would greatly appreciate anyone who chose to donate.
