Support Joshua Ricks' Road to Recovery

Hi my name is Michelle Ricks and I am seeking assistance for my brother-in-law, Joshua Ricks to assist in his recovery process.

On January 6, 2024, Joshua was involved in a terrible car accident, just 6 days after his 30th birthday, which has resulted in both mental and severe physical injuries that have left him bedridden. Since then he has fought through multiple surgeries from head to toe, infections of all sorts, and has had several blood products transfusions to help sustain his life. While we were told the brain injury was minor, Joshua is still not able to speak and breathe completely on his own. He therefore has a tracheostomy connected to oxygen for assistance. He also has a feeding tube to provide nutrients to his body.

Joshua was recently discharged home from the hospital to the full-time care of his parents David Ricks and Sarah Ricks. While insurance has provided some of the necessities to assist in his recovery, there are certain items that the family needs assistance with replenishing. Items such as hospital gowns, and incontinence supplies i.e. incontinence pads, condom catheters, urine bags, diapers, and wipes. He would also benefit from oral care supplies. Transportation assistance to hospitals and or assistance with purchasing a car lift to transport him both safely and effectively.

The journey thus far has been rough on the entire Ricks family. Sarah had to stop working and made it her full-time duty to drive 1.5 to 2 hours back and forth most days to see to the proper care of Joshua. Despite her and the family's efforts to advocate on his behalf, he unfortunately developed what appears to be a stage 4 pressure ulcer. So wound care at home is another battle at this time.

If you know my brother-in-law he is loving, full of life, playful, caring, and loved by his entire family and friends. Therefore we have faith that Joshua will continue to progress forward, despite any foreseen and unforeseen mishaps.
