Hello, my name is Justin Hixon. I live in the Cleveland, OH area. My brother Joshua Hixon lives in Prineville, OR. On 08/05/2026, he was attacked and mauled by 4 Pitbull Rottweiler mix dogs.

Josh is a father of 2, Jesse and Carson, and is married to his high school sweetheart, Ashley.

He has extensive damage to both arms, which required numerous stitches and will require reconstructive surgery on his left hand and wrist.

He will be discharged from the hospital in Bend, OR, today (08/07/2026) with many prescriptions and upcoming surgeries.

Josh and Ashley had friends staying in their camper that had been evacuated from their home due to the wildfires in Oregon. These friends brought their dogs as well. They had been at the house for about a week. Josh went outside on Wednesday night and attempted to pet one of the dogs. The dog did not or growl or bark but just latched onto his hand. That’s when the three other dogs joined in.

This attack was unprovoked and undeserved.

He was transported from Prineville, OR to Bend, OR because the injuries were too severe for the local hospital to treat. That’s approximately 36 miles by ambulance.

Anything to help my brother and his family would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
