Support Josh's Recovery from Crohn's Surgery

Hello friends and family! I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my son-in-law, Josh, as many of you have asked in which way you could be of help.

As you may know, Josh was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in May (ironically within days of learning they are expecting!) after two emergency department visits (while in Italy), and then he was hospitalized for a week at Penn State Lancaster for a bowel obstruction. He made an excellent recovery and had been stable and feeling wonderful since, until suddenly this past Wednesday (8/28), Hayley had to call an ambulance for him due to severe abdominal pain. He was taken to Penn State Lancaster, where it was discovered he had a bowel obstruction and bowel perforation. He was in significant, excruciating pain. It was determined that the best option for his condition and status was to transfer to Penn State Hershey where he has remained a patient and is scheduled for surgery this Thursday, 9/5. This surgery will entail a very large incision and could require a colostomy bag for a few months as well as an additional surgery.

Due to Josh needing so much time off since this illness began, he has exhausted all of his PTO. His recovery after surgery will be several weeks. Along with this, Hayley just started her own practice this year which means any time that she has to take off is loss of income.

I know Josh and Hayley would be so grateful for any contribution, no matter how small, to help ease the financial burden as they navigate through this challenging period in their lives!
