Hi, my name is Josh. On the night of November 15, I was stabbed while defending my girlfriend's friend from a guy who was clearly making her uncomfortable. He barely missed my artery. If it wasn’t for the tourniquet my girlfriend's sister made from a shirt wrapping around my arm that night, I would have most likely bled out, the doctors said. Because of how much blood I lost, I needed to have a blood transfusion. The wound was so deep it took around 2 hours for surgery to be completed, finishing with staples and stitches.
What happened was I gently put my hand on his chest and politely told him to back up. He immediately became enraged and attacked me by choking me. I tried to push him off and then started to defend myself. During that time, I wasn’t aware I had been stabbed because of my adrenaline until a couple minutes afterwards.
I'm making this GoFundMe because California Disability only approved me for a week, and I recently found out that CALVCB denied my claim because “the victim was involved in the events that led to the crime” and “the victim's behavior reasonably caused a physical altercation that led to the crime.” I'm currently in the process of appealing this notion. Also due to this situation I was out of work for a month.
The money here would help pay for my medical bills.
