Support Josh's Long Road to Recovery

Donation protected
If you found yourself here, you may have been following our story during the search for my brother Joshua.

When Josh didn't arrive to work on Wednesday 07/16, his coworkers and family knew something wasn't right. His bank account showed last transactions were 07/15. His phone was dead and last location was 07/15, and he left his last location on his road bike and had not returned to his Airbnb that night.

We knew something had to have happened on the way home.

We want to thank everyone who helped us with our search to find Josh. Whether it was prayers, sharing the post, or joining our search locally, your efforts were not in vain.

As we all know, Josh left South Bend Public House on 07/15 in between 9:45pm and 9:50pm. Our search area was focused on what we thought might be his path back to his Airbnb that night, between 20 and 2, and in LaPorte (the area indicated in black boxes in the attached image). He was found 10 miles away from where he was last seen.

We don't know why he chose to take 12 back, but there was a road closure which resulted in him turning left onto Buffalo Rd, in Galien. The road is curvy, and dark. The particular curve he was found in, was missing the sign that would have warned him that a turn was coming. By the time he was able to see the second curve warning sign that is further into the turn and obstructed by corn fields, it was too late and he couldn't make it. According to the land owner, another individual had hit the sign previously, and it was never replaced.

In the dark, on an unfamiliar road, Josh laid on the side of the road, down a small hill for 3 nights. Due to a traumatic brain injury from the crash, he was unable to get up. On Friday, he was able to stand up, multiple people immediately recognized him from the posts/flyers, called us, and contacted the authorities. Our mom and a longtime family friend was able to beat the ambulance and be the first to hug him. We will always remember his first words: "You're here? You found me."

While I know many are asking for details about how he is doing, please know we can't share all details of his injuries, only that he will have a long road to recovering mentally and physically due to the accident.

Any funds collected will assist with his medical care, bills, and helping to support his 4 children, as we are unsure at this time when he will be able to return to work.

We cannot thank you enough.
