On Wednesday evening, our family’s lives changed in an instant. While out running, Josh was struck by a car and suffered catastrophic injuries. He is currently in the ICU at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, where he remains unconscious as doctors and nurses work tirelessly to keep him stable.
Josh sustained traumatic brain injury with bleeding, internal abdominal bleeding, a broken right leg, broken ribs, and multiple other serious injuries. His condition is critical, and his road to recovery will be long and uncertain. Yet through it all, we give thanks to God because Josh is alive. We firmly believe the Lord’s hand has been over him from the very beginning, and we trust that God is not finished with his story.
Josh is an extremely compassionate, energetic, and relentlessly hardworking young man. At just 20 years old, he was preparing to begin his final semester at Texas State University, on track to graduate in May, double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Pure Mathematics, with a minor in Data Analytics. He poured his heart into his education not for recognition but because he genuinely loves learning and using knowledge to serve others.
At Texas State, Josh is deeply involved in the academic community. He works as a MathCats campus tutor, where his greatest joy has always been teaching mathematics. Josh has a rare gift for explaining difficult concepts with patience, clarity, and encouragement. He doesn’t just tutor. He invests in people. He also works closely with the department through internships and academic projects, always going above and beyond what is asked of him.
Outside of school, Josh is someone who gives 110% in everything he does. He works 40+ hours a week while balancing full time coursework and multiple side businesses. We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to all of his customers and clients through Amazing Rentals, his photography business, and his personal tutoring, as he will be unable to continue these commitments during recovery. Josh never took his responsibilities lightly. Serving others with excellence has always been part of who he is.
Josh has always lived an active, disciplined life. He trained daily, lifting weights and preparing to run a marathon, pushing himself physically and mentally. But more than his physical strength, Josh’s greatest strength has always been his faith.
Josh loves Jesus with his whole heart. He wore a “Jesus Loves You” shirt almost every single day, not as a slogan but as a testimony. Wherever Josh went, he evangelized boldly and joyfully. He spoke about Christ with kindness, humility, and conviction. In every space he entered he sought to honor the Lord. His life has always pointed back to God.
We are incredibly proud of Josh not just for his academic accomplishments or work ethic but for the way he has lived out his faith. Even now in this valley, we trust that God is being glorified through Josh’s life and testimony.
We have created this GoFundMe to support Josh directly as he begins the long journey of healing. During recovery, he will not be able to work or attend school as he once did. He has always been financially responsible, paying for his own university tuition, insurance, and every expense along the way. He is currently debt-free and has a passion for financial literacy. Any donation no matter the size will go directly toward supporting Josh’s needs as he continues his journey.
Above all, we ask for continued prayers. We believe in a God who heals, restores, and redeems. We believe in the power of prayer and that Josh’s life is a testimony still unfolding.
Thank you for your love, generosity, and prayers. All glory and praise to God in every season.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18
