It is time to come together to support our friend and colleague, Josh Williams. Josh is, first and foremost, a devoted husband and father. His world revolves around his wife, Lauren, and their two beautiful children, Ava (10) and Ben (5). Whether he’s helping with homework, cheering on Ben at t-ball or Ava at soccer, or simply enjoying a UNC basketball game, Josh’s greatest joy has always been the time he spends with his family.
Josh is also a dedicated social studies teacher at Walton High School, where he has poured his heart into his students and the school. In his time as a Raider, he has made a massive impression on his classes and colleagues, quickly becoming one of everyone’s favorite people at Walton. His passion for teaching and enthusiasm in the classroom have made him an asset to his school and community.
Recently, Josh and his family received the heartbreaking news that he has stage 4 colon cancer. The days ahead will be filled with treatments, recovery, and immense uncertainty, but what remains constant is the support the Williams family will receive from their friends and family.
As Josh begins this difficult journey, we are asking for support to help ease the financial hardship of a cancer diagnosis. While Josh plans to continue teaching and has health benefits to offset some costs, medical treatments, time away from work, and everyday expenses can add up quickly. Your generosity will allow Lauren to focus on caring for Josh and their children, and will give Josh the ability to focus on healing and spending meaningful time with Ava and Ben.
The Williams family has always shown up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for them. Any donation, prayer, or share makes a difference and means more than words can express.
Thank you for surrounding Josh, Lauren, Ava, and Ben with love during this incredibly challenging time.
