Josh Green helps keep Moncus Park beautiful, but right now he’s facing the fight of his life: cancer. Josh is one of our dedicated groundskeepers, and his work shows up in the details that make the park feel welcoming and cared for every single day. In June 2025, Josh was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare blood and bone marrow cancer. While this cancer is incurable, it is treatable, and Josh has been fighting with strength and determination ever since. He was diagnosed at Stage 3, the most advanced stage of this cancer, and began chemotherapy in July 2025. Just two weeks after his diagnosis, Josh was hospitalized with kidney failure, but chemotherapy has helped and his labs have been improving. At only 46 years old, Josh’s diagnosis is especially rare, since multiple myeloma is most commonly diagnosed in men ages 65 to 70, and it is often compared to leukemia because of how it affects the blood and bone marrow.
Josh is now working toward a major next step in his treatment, a stem cell transplant on April 20 in New Orleans. The recovery will be extremely difficult. Josh is expected to be out of work for 2 to 3 months, including two weeks in the hospital followed by two weeks outpatient that requires 24-hour monitoring. He may also need support from a home health aide or nurse’s aide as he works to regain his strength. As Josh prepares for this intense chapter, he is also facing the very real financial burden that comes with treatment and time away from work, including everyday needs like bills, food, and recovery support. The funds raised will help cover Josh's daily living expenses and medical services that are not covered by insurance while he is unable to work and recovering from treatment.
If you are able, please consider donating or sharing to help Josh focus on healing and getting back on his feet. Every donation helps Josh cover the cost of recovery, ensuring stability through treatment, and focus on what matters most: healing and getting his life back.
