Hello all. My name is Dillon Chapman. My family received two pieces of heavy-hearted news in the same week. This following the unexpected loss of my grandmother just 2 weeks before. My step-father, Josh, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. After further testing, scanning, and doctor appointments, we learned there were 12 cancer spots in his brain as well as multiple places in his bones and abdomen. My brother, Tanner, was diagnosed with colon cancer. Later, we found out Tanner's was just stage 2, so thankfully we were able to get him surgery quickly at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center before it spread to other organs. Obviously, surgery was needed ASAP and in Grand Junction the scheduling for the surgery he needed was more than a month out. Furthermore, Tanner was diagnosed with severe anemia, which led him to an extreme lack of strength, stamina, and energy. In Grand Junction, Josh was given a poor prognosis and was told he needed brain radiation right away. My mom didn't agree with the treatment plan they wanted to do for Josh and since Tanner could not have surgery right away we decided to pack up and "move" to Denver to seek treatment at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Lone Tree, Colorado. We all live in Grand Junction, Colorado, and serve the western slope community with a family-owned business. I manage the finance and advertising part of our business. My mom, Denice, is an end-of-life care veterinarian, my step-father manages our pet crematory and my brother is our full-time crematory operator. We decided to seek treatment at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center so we could receive excellent treatment for both of them even though the center is a 4 1/2 hour trip away from home. I, as well as many family members have gathered around us to help with the business and have been traveling back and forth to Denver to visit when we can. Tanner has an eight year old son, my nephew and I take him to visit Tanner whenever I can. Because of these medical issues, my brother, step-dad, and mom have had to quit working for awhile and if you know anything about owning your own business you can understand what this means financially. Not to worry about our business closing however because we have wonderful employees, friends, family and support people all around keeping things going in our absence. We are starting to have exponential medical expenses and therefore feel that reaching for financial assistance through this type of platform could be such a blessing to all involved. If you want to follow us on caringbridge.org, you may ask for permission by searching Tanner Griffin and/or Josh Norton and ask for permission to read updates. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and any amount of financial support you can offer at this incredibly difficult time for my family. With Warm Regards, Dillon Chapman
