Jose has been my friend for over 40 years. He’s a bit shy, but anyone who knows him will tell you he’s hilarious and has a heart of gold. Our friendship has stood the test of time, thanks in part to his fondness for Samoa GS cookies and his unwavering loyalty. Now, Jose is facing one of the toughest challenges of his life, and I want to be there for him just as he’s always been there for me.

Jose works for Kaiser, but right now his union is on strike, leaving him without a steady income. On top of that, he’s recovering from a serious aortic dissection and has months of physical therapy ahead. The stress of medical bills and daily expenses is mounting, and it’s even harder with his wife, Maria, and two sons, one of whom is in college studying pre-med. Despite all of this, Jose remains positive and determined to get back on his feet.
