On Tuesday, May 6th, my husband Jose was detained by ICE on his way to work. He’s currently being held at the Adelanto Detention Center, and our family is heartbroken. We are doing everything we can to fight for him, but legal fees are overwhelming—we’ve been quoted over $8,000 to begin the process.
Jose made a mistake at 19 that led to time in prison, but he didn’t let that define him. During his sentence, he committed himself fully to change. He earned his high school diploma, enrolled in college courses, completed countless self-help programs, and became an incarcerated firefighter—risking his life to serve during California’s fire season and serving the community of Avenal, CA
Thanks to his hard work and transformation, Jose was granted early release and given the opportunity to join the Ventura County Fire Program, which helps formerly incarcerated firefighters continue building their futures. Today, Jose is 32 years old—a completely changed man, a devoted husband, and someone who has used every tool available to turn his life around.
Now, despite his growth and all he’s contributed, he’s facing deportation.
We’re asking for help to raise the funds needed to fight for Jose’s freedom and keep our family together. If you’re able to donate, share, or simply keep us in your thoughts, we are deeply grateful.
Thank you for standing with us
