Support Jose's Journey to Mobility and Joy
Donation protected
On February 22, 2024, Jose underwent a major lower back surgery that involved titanium repairs to his L2, L3, L4, L5, and S1 vertebrae. As he jokes, “I have even better components than my bikes!” Although the procedure was extensive, his recovery has been a slow journey. Nearly a year later, after multiple doctor visits, tests, and physical therapy sessions, he continues to face challenges.
Sadly, we later discovered that the surgery caused permanent nerve damage in his left leg, leading to drop foot syndrome. This condition has resulted in significant weakness and fatigue, severely impacting his mobility. After 27 years of dedicated service, Jose was unable to return to his job at AT&T, as the physical demands—climbing poles, heavy lifting, and long walks—became impossible.
Despite these obstacles, Jose remains remarkably positive and grateful for the little things in life. He treasures moments with his grandsons, enjoys short walks, and, most importantly, continues to have a passion for mountain biking. Although he may never return to the work he loved, his enthusiasm for riding has never wavered.
To support Jose’s journey, we would love to help him get an e-bike, which would allow him to continue doing what he loves—mountain biking—while accommodating his mobility challenges. This would be a huge step forward in his recovery and well-being, allowing him to regain some independence and enjoy the outdoor activities he’s passionate about.
Jose’s journey has been incredibly difficult, but his determination and resilience are truly inspiring. Any support you can provide—whether financial or simply sharing his story—will help immensely as we continue to work toward his recovery and long-term treatments.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a meaningful difference in Jose’s life.
With gratitude,
