*UPDATE:

I have updated the campaign to help with my brother's funeral costs.

Unfortuntely, Jose's fight came to an end and we lost him December 3rd at 11:32 am. And he made his transition into the next life to be with our mother, and the rest of his family and friends that have gone before him. He passed, and even though we understood it was a possibility, we remained hopeful and were given that hope due to Jose's positive progress as well as his care teams updates of his health trending into the positive direction. We just spoke to his care team the day before and they were making goals for Jose that week to wean him off of some medications later in the week as long as he stayed toward the positive. Despite Jose's fight, and his care teams best efforts Jose started to decline the morning of December 3rd.

His electrolytes, potassium, and oxygenation became super low. Too low. and they intervened with medications to try and keep them stable. Unfortunately, Jose went into cardiac arrest after much intervention to try and stabilize him. They did get him back once, but the damage was done and they tried a second time to get him back, but his brain and heart had no activity.

Jose passed at 11:32 am.

We all lost such a good person and kind soul. Jose was full of life and such a wonderful family member and friend. He was a proud father, son, brother. and uncle with many extended family members.

Jose's story........

In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, my brother Jose was a victim of a hit and run on his way to work while on his scooter by a person driving an uninsured driver in a Ford F150 in Marion, Illinois. The person who hit him did not stop to render him aid, and Jose laid there, left for dead like roadkill until a good Samaritan stopped to help him. We aren't sure how much time passed, but we do know it was approximately 15-30 minutes.

He is suffering from a traumatic brain injury, along with a pelvic fracture, kidney lacerations, bladder injury, a urethra injury, and his lungs are having issues.

Jose will need financial assistance to help offset future medical costs, rehabilitation, medications, and he will not be able to work for a while. This is a long road ahead for him.

He is currently in life-threatening and critical condition.

On Friday, November 29th, he had a procedure to remove the left side of his skull to alleviate cranial pressure. It was up to an ICP of 34. They want that number between 8 and 22.

After his procedure, his levels went down to 13-15. But it crept back up to 22. Yesterday, the number went down to 20.

As of today, December 1st, his numbers are 14 to 17.

He is not out of the woods yet and still in critical condition. But he is heading in the right direction.

We don't know what the outcome will be, but we are hopeful Jose will be back with us. It's going to be a long road for him, but he is a fighter. The doctors are hopeful, but they do believe Jose will have some sort of disability if he survives this. We are holding out hope that Jose will make a full recovery.

Jose is a very happy, go-lucky person. To him, everyone is his friend. He never meets a stranger. We can't go with him anywhere without someone stopping him and saying, "Hey Jose!!! What's up?! How have you been?" He has friends from all over that he considers family. Jose has always been one to help someone in need. He loves life and being with friends and family. He loves to laugh and have fun with those he loves.

Jose is also a father to two children, Skylar and Annabelle Williams. A son, brother, nephew, and cousin. His family loves him dearly, and all we want is for him to recover.

We have had a continuance of an outpouring of love, thoughts, and prayers not only from family and friends but people from our community. And we are grateful for everyone.

We also want to thank the Williamson County Sheriff's Department for their investigation and finding the truck and person who did this to my brother.

It's not easy for us to ask for financial support, but we know Jose will need this in the coming future. We are doing this for Jose. And we genuinely appreciate those who can donate, no matter how big or small. And for those who cannot, please offer your continued love, prayers, thoughts, and support. And please share this campaign with friends and family to help spread the word. Your kindness means everything to us, and we truly appreciate your help during this traumatic time for Jose and our family.

With loving gratitude,

Rebeca Bautista (sister)

Alfredo Bautista (Jose's dad)
