Support Jose's Fight Against GBS

Hello, my name is Luz Lockett, and I'm writing this with a heavy heart on behalf of my brother, Jose “Peppo” Hernandez.
On Father’s Day, what should have been a day of love, celebration, and time with his daughter, turned into a nightmare none of us saw coming. Jose was rushed to the hospital after suddenly losing strength in his legs and experiencing alarming symptoms. Within hours, he was unable to walk or use his arms.
His diagnosis is Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare and terrifying autoimmune disorder where the body attacks its own nervous system, often leading to paralysis.
Our family is still in shock. Just weeks ago, we were mourning the sudden loss of our beloved aunt and now, less than a month later, we are facing another unimaginable crisis.
Jose is a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His daughter is his whole world, and he is hers. Seeing him unable to stand, to hold her, to even move without assistance breaks our hearts. He is currently hospitalized, undergoing intense treatment and facing a long and uncertain road to recovery. GBS doesn’t have a quick fix. Recovery can take months or even years, and some never fully regain what was lost. Right now, we are praying for strength, healing, and hope.
As you can imagine, the financial toll is enormous. We are humbly asking for help to ease the burden. If you know Pepe, you know how big his heart is. He’s the type of person who shows up for others without being asked.
Please consider donating whatever you can, no amount is too small. And even if you can’t give financially, we ask that you please share this page, keep him in your thoughts, and send prayers and love our way.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With love and gratitude,
Luz & Family
