We are asking for your help to support Joseph McCuen. Joseph was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, September 29th – a week ago already. After going to several doctors for diagnosis with no answers, on the 29th they rushed Joseph immediately into surgery and he has been in the ICU since. Doctors found that Joseph was infected with a flesh-eating bacterial disease called necrotizing fasciitis – a rare, life-threatening bacterial infection that can destroy skin, muscles and underlying tissues. Due to the nature of the procedure to remove the infected tissue and the associated pain, Joseph was placed on a ventilator under heavy sedation and bombarded with massive antibiotics. It is unknown right now when he will leave the ICU or if additional surgeries will be required. As of today, the ventilator has been removed, and he is in speech therapy, and a wound vac has been added to promote healing.
For all of those of you who know Joseph, you know that he is a friend to everyone he meets. In his 34 years, he has not met a stranger and will bend over backwards to help everyone he meets. He is a graduate of the Benedictine Military School class of 2009, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. It’s our turn to step in and help Joseph out now. Thank you for sharing your prayers, love and support for Joseph and helping him, just as he always helps others. Please also share this link with your friends and family to help spread the word.
