Support Joseph's Legacy: The Memorial Award
Donation protected
Welcome to the "Joseph A. Strillacci Memorial Award" Fund.
In the fall of 1985, Joseph Strillacci was a bright and energetic 13-year-old boy with his whole life ahead of him. His unexpected and tragic passing impacted not only his family, but the entire community. All who knew him clung to memories of Joseph's laughter, enthusiasm, and joyful spirit.
To honor his life, the Carl H. Kumpf Middle School, along with the support of Joseph's family, established an award in his name.
The award would be presented annually to a graduating 8th grader who is also a member of the baseball team. The recipient of the award would not only receive recognition for their character, but also funds provided by Joseph's family. Through this award, his memory would live on and continue to inspire future generations.
In June of 1986, then baseball coach Mr. Young would select the award's first recipient, a baseball player who exemplifies hard work and dedication. The tradition has continued ever since its inception, including the involvement of Joseph's family.
With the passing of Joseph's father, Charles Strillacci, in 2024, the family decided that the most fitting tribute was to ensure continued funding for Joseph's memorial award in the years to come.
