Support Joseph's Fight Against Colon Cancer
Donation protected
Cancer is not something anyone thinks they will ever really face, especially at a young"er" age... but unfortunately one my very best friends, Lisa Christie, is in the trenches with her husband, Joseph, who, at 39, has been diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer in early February this year after a rapid progression of symptoms over about a 6-8 week period. As many of you know, Joseph is an incredible father to two great kids, Cate (13) and Cole (10).
Because they are both self-employed, they did not have health insurance. They DO, however, have a Christian Health Care Sharing program that will assist with medical bills, but it requires they pay $12,000 (2 x $6,000 deductibles) out of pocket before all the incurred bills from December and January will be paid.
They WERE able to get Joseph health insurance (on the very last day of signups!) via the healthcare marketplace. As of 2/1, he is covered with only a smaller out of pocket maximum. They are beyond thankful for the hand God had in this as the bills are already piling up!
They have an incredible village of people supporting them and are so incredibly grateful. FIRST AND FOREMOST they ask for your PRAYERS. They believe that God hears our prayers and they desperately need them right now! It is ABSOLUTELY their number one and most important need!!!
It is NOT easy to talk about or "ask" for money- but they have had so many people ask how they can help- and being completely frank and honest- taking this $12,000 out of pocket expense off their plate would help so much and allow them to use their income to continue supporting their family's financial needs including daily bills - Just trying to be as transparent as possible because I know so very many have asked for something "tangible" that they can do for them! Door Dash/Grub Hub, Diablos and Chick-Fil-A gift cards would also be appreciated to help with meals - as day to day it is hit or miss on what Joseph can or even will eat.
Again, they have felt so supported and loved through this very unexpected cancer journey. Their families, church family, friends, and neighbors have all jumped in and helped with any and every need, no questions asked. They can't even wrap their heads around how they would handle ANY of this without the support they have received. Lisa has been VERY clear that "Thank you" just doesn't seem like it will ever be enough but they are truly, truly so thankful!!!
Your donation is absolutely appreciated and your prayers are very much needed!!! Please pray, pray, pray!!!!
