Support Joseph After Loss of Wife in Home Fire Tragedy

Donation protected
On March 3, 2025 the house across the street from us went on fire and was a total loss. I had never met the couple who occupied the home but felt compelled to go over and ask if there was anything we could do to help. It was then that I met Joseph, a very soft-spoken and kind gentleman. He described driving home from work to find Gray Byrum Road blocked by numerous fire and police vehicles as well as an ambulance.

Joseph left his car at the side of the road and started walking towards his home assuming there had been a serious traffic accident. As he got closer he discovered that it was his home that was on fire and that his wife, Frances, was being attended to by medical personnel. Frances had been pulled from the home by a good Samaritan driving by prior to the arrival of emergency services. Frances suffered burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to the Atrium ER and subsequently air lifted to the burn unit in Winston-Salem. Joseph came to see me a few days ago to say that sadly, Frances passed away on Friday, April 4 as a result of the injuries she suffered in the fire.

I created this GoFundMe on Joseph's behalf hoping that our community will come together to help support him during this very sad and financially burdensome time in his life. I know that any donations will be greatly appreciated. All contributions will go directly to Joseph's account. Thank you!
