Hello,

We are setting up this fundraiser on behalf of our dear friend Jose Zepeda. In hopes of providing him with some monetary financial relief as he physically and mentally recovers from a horrific car accident that occurred on the morning of October 26, 2022.

Anyone who has ever met Jose typically describes him as one of the kindest, most sincere, generous, and funniest people they know. He brings joy to everyone around him and lights up a room with laughter. As an altruistic person, Jose always puts others above himself, with a history of helping co-workers, friends, family, and even strangers whenever they are in need, even if it means putting himself in a challenging situation.

NOW JOSE NEEDS OUR HELP!

On the morning of October 26th, Jose was driving home when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle during a heavy thunderstorm. The stormy night with heavy rain caused low road visibility and made the road very slippery. In an attempt to gain control of his vehicle and avoid hitting other cars around him, he swerved to the side but ended up crashing into a highway guard rail. Jose’s body ended up on the highway, and due to the low visibility, he was hit and run over by another vehicle.

Jose unfortunately suffered multiple life-threatening injuries, including a collapsed lung, contusion of the left lung, multiple closed fractures of ribs on both sides, spinal fracture, broken upper left arm and shoulder blade, liver injury, acute blood loss and other injuries to vital internal organs. Jose was on the cusp of death when he arrived at the hospital. But by the grace of God and the heroes at Grady Hospital, he survived!

Jose underwent medical treatment at the Grady Hospital ICU for over three weeks. He miraculously improved during those 3 weeks, and thankfully he is now at home recovering. However, his recovery will be long and tedious. His doctors are unsure how long his rehab or outpatient journey will be, but they are hopeful he will continue to improve daily and get back to normal.

Due to this sudden event, Jose cannot work for the unforeseeable future, causing a substantial decrease in his income. His job is providing some assistance while he recovers, but he did not qualify for medical insurance because he was recently hired. Therefore, he will be responsible for all medical bills out of pocket.

The bills from the hospital stay are starting to accumulate along with his mortgage and other typical monthly bills. His family has also had to travel back and forth from Orlando to Atlanta and have had to take time of their jobs to be by his side. As his friends, we want Jose to recover and heal as soon as possible but the worry and stress over his financial situation is hindering his recovery.

Many have asked how they can support Jose and his family during this challenging time. We are asking for help with humility and gratitude. Your kindness and generosity will assist with not only medical expenses for Jose, but essential family expenses as well.

Estamos organizando esta recaudación de fondos en nombre de nuestro querido amigo José Zepeda con la esperanza de brindarle un alivio económico monetario mientras se recupera física y mentalmente de un terrible accidente automovilístico que ocurrió en la mañana del 26 de Octubre del 2022.

Quien haya conocido a José, normalmente lo describiría como una de las personas más amables, sinceras, generosas y divertidas que conocen. Él trae alegría a todos los que lo rodean e ilumina una habitación con su carisma. También es una persona altruista que siempre pone a los demás por encima de sí mismo. Tiene un historial de ayudar a compañeros de trabajo, amigos y familiares, incluso a extraños que lo necesiten, incluso si eso lo pone en una posición difícil.

¡Ahora José necesita nuestra ayuda!

En la mañana del 26 de octubre, José conducía de camino a casa cuando de repente perdió el control de su vehículo durante una fuerte tormenta. La tormenta produjo lluvias muy intensas que causaron poca visibilidad en la carretera y la hicieron muy resbaladiza. En un intento por controlar su vehículo y no golpear a otros vehículos a su alrededor, se desvió hacia un lado pero terminó chocando contra una barandilla de la carretera. El cuerpo de José salió volando del vehículo y terminó sobre la carretera y por la poca visibilidad fue atropellado y arrollado por otro vehículo.

Desafortunadamente, José sufrió múltiples lesiones críticas que amenazaron su vida. Un pulmón colapsado, contusión en el pulmón izquierdo, múltiples fracturas de costillas en ambos lados, fractura de vértebras de columna, fractura en la parte superior del brazo izquierdo y omóplato, lesión en el hígado, pérdida aguda de sangre y otras lesiones en órganos internos vitales.

José estaba al borde de la muerte cuando llegó al hospital. Pero por la gracia de Dios y los héroes del Hospital Grady, ¡sobrevivió!

José se sometió a tratamiento médico en la UCI del Grady Hospital durante más de 3 semanas. Mejoró milagrosamente durante esas 3 semanas y afortunadamente ahora está en casa recuperándose. Sin embargo, su recuperación será larga y tediosa. Sus médicos no están seguros de cuánto tiempo durará su proceso de rehabilitación o ambulatorio, pero esperan que continúe mejorando cada día y vuelva a la normalidad.

Debido a este evento repentino, José no puede trabajar por un futuro imprevisible, provocando una disminución sustancial de sus ingresos. Su trabajo consiste en brindar asistencia mientras se recupera, pero debido a que fue contratado recientemente, no calificó con su seguro médico. Por lo tanto, él será responsable de todos los gastos médicos de su bolsillo.

Las facturas de la estancia en el hospital comienzan a acumularse junto con su hipoteca y otras facturas mensuales. Sin embargo, su familia vive en Orlando y han estado viajando de Orlando a Atlanta y se han tomado un descanso de sus trabajos para estar a su lado.

Muchos han preguntado cómo pueden apoyar a José y su familia durante este momento difícil. Estamos pidiendo ayuda con humildad y gratitud. Su amabilidad y generosidad ayudarán no solo con los gastos médicos de José, sino también con los gastos familiares esenciales.
