Hi my name is Sandra and I’m raising funeral funds for my father’s burial Jose Refugio (Cuco)
Jose (Cuco) Refugio Ortiz Gallardo passed away peacefully on October 16,2024 at California Kaiser Permanente Hospital. He had loving family by his side.
Jose was born on the 14th of Janurary 1970 in Agua de Obispó, Jalisco in Mexico to Benjamin Ortiz and Livier Gallardo. He was raised in a big family as one of ten siblings. Entering the work force at a young age, he garnered a love of creating, making and fixing early. He was a keen multi media artist, from pencil sketches and calligraphy to welding and sculpture, his creativity was his passion. Taught by his Uncle Samuel he became multifaceted and proficient in these skills, becoming a self sufficient and independent soul.
In addition to this, as a young man he made a bold choice to move to a foreign land and raise a family, learning new languages and skills along the way. He was dependable and hard working, travelling around California and as far as Hawaii for work, where he built in-ground swimming pools. Jose was also a dedicated provider, for both his family in Oklahoma and relatives in Mexico.
Jose is survived by his beloved Martha Patricia Ortiz Perez and his two daughters, Sandra Ortiz Perez and Yesenia de Jesus Ortiz Perez as well as his grandchildren Gael, Angel and Saray.
Jose’s kindness, infectious happiness and love for artistry and self expression will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and will leave a lasting impression on the world.
Despite our differences my father was the coolest person I knew and I was so proud of being his mariposa maravillosa and his Mojo or how he would say it, Moyo. Te amo Chiloco
