Early in the morning of October 16th, Jose Diaz was rushed to the Bay Care hospital in Winter Garden after suffering a stroke. He received life saving surgery shortly after arriving at the hospital. He has since been transferred to St Joseph hospital in Tampa, while he recovers in ICU. Doctors are satisfied with his CT scans post surgery and anticipate a good prognosis. Jose is not yet alert but able to squeeze the hands of his family members when they speak with him.

Jose is well known for his many years as the Florida conference Pathfinder Varsity director, bringing joyful memories and elaborate story telling to our youth across the State. Prior to this leadership role, Jose served as the club director at Kissimmee Spanish SDA church for over a decade. We all have fond memories of him blowing his whistle and calling us into attention, before making us drill until we were in perfect unison. Now I ask that we all unite to help Jose during his stroke recovery, so that he can regain the use of his left side to continue marching with us.

Funds will be used to cover medical bills and help his wife Aristomelia with unexpected expenses. His children, Kevin and Janie, await the day he can hug them with his warm embrace. His granddaughters, Jayliana and Jaelani, want to be able to tug at his arms before he lifts one in each arm. Your donation will help his recovery to achieve those goals! ****Update 10/19 The breathing tube was removed today. Jose is responding well and has started to talk. He feels everyone's love. The family is grateful for all the prayers!

Temprano en la mañana del 16 de octubre, José Díaz fue trasladado de urgencia al hospital Bay Care en Winter Garden después de sufrir un derrame cerebral. Recibió una cirugía que le salvó la vida poco después de llegar al hospital. Desde entonces ha sido trasladado al hospital St Joseph en Tampa, mientras se recupera en en cuidados intensivos. Los médicos están satisfechos con las tomografías computarizadas posteriores a la cirugía y anticipan un buen pronóstico. José aún no está alerta pero puede apretar las manos de sus familiares cuando hablan con él.

José es bien conocido por sus muchos años como director de Varsity de Conquistadores de la conferencia de Florida, trayendo recuerdos alegres y narraciones elaboradas a nuestros jóvenes en todo el estado. Antes de ocupar este puesto de liderazgo, José se desempeñó como director del club en la iglesia Hispana Adventista de Kissimmee durante más de una década. Todos tenemos buenos recuerdos de él tocando su silbato y llamándonos a atención, antes de obligarnos a marchar hasta que estuviéramos al unísono. Ahora pido que todos nos unamos para ayudar a José durante su recuperación del derrame cerebral, para que pueda recuperar el uso de su lado izquierdo para seguir marchando con nosotros.

Sus hijos, Kevin y Janie, esperan el día en que él pueda abrazarlos con su cálido abrazo.
