Support José Baez's Fight Against Brain Cancer

I’m the daughter of José Baez — a man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Whether it was offering a haircut to someone who couldn’t afford one, opening our home to a friend going through hard times, or calling in favors to help fix your car when he couldn’t do it himself, my dad has always shown up with generosity, grit, and a wisecrack at the ready. He’s been a loving husband, a great friend, and a great father to my brother and I. In the 17 years he’s been in my life, he’s never been one to ask for help — he’s always been the one offering it.

Now, he needs us.

Just before his 56th birthday, after spending a week in the neuro ICU and being discharged to go home, my family received the news: he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Just days later, he fell and had to be admitted to the hospital again. The tumor has already impacted his ability to walk, speak, eat, and stay steady on his feet. Despite this, he’s still fighting — just as he always has.

I started this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of in-home care and other mounting medical expenses not covered by insurance. Our goal is to keep my dad safe, comfortable, and surrounded by the love and dignity he’s always given to others.
