Support Jo's Battle Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Our sister, Joanna was recently diagnosed with an aggressive and cancerous brain tumor. The Doctors believe it to be a Level 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Up until now, Jo was a healthy and vibrant 40-year-old, full of life and energy. In fact, Jo went on a run with Mollie Sunday August 11th.
One CT scan later our lives forever changed.
The CT scan showed a 5cm wide tumor in her left frontal lobe with a 8mm midline shift that was beginning to impact her speech, cognition, and memory. Jo was transferred immediately to John Hopkins Hospital that night. On August 21st, Jo underwent an emergent and intensive 6-hour brain surgery (craniotomy) at John Hopkins to remove the tumor. The surgeon was able to extract approximately 90% of the mass, but it’s highly likely that she would have an additional surgery in the future.
In true Jo fashion, still not complaining though.
Jo is a nurse by trade, wife of her high school sweetheart Jesse, and mother of Iggy (9) and Olive (11). She is the cornerstone of her family. Jo is the most calm, generous and nurturing soul both in her personal life and career choice. She’s truly an incredible person.
Jo has a tough road ahead. There is still a lot of uncertainty with her treatment plan but we do know it will include chemotherapy, radiation and possibly clinical trials. We are determined to help her fight this battle.
We want our Jojo back.
We are overwhelmed with loving outpour of friends and family offering to help Jo. One direct thing we could think of to help support Joanna, Jesse, Olive and Iggy are donations to help support her care. Any donation will go directly to helping cover medical expenses, supporting the kids and ensure Jo can focus on her fight without the stress of mounting bills.
We truly appreciate it!
