On Saturday June 21st at approximately 2:30am our good friend Jorge Alfaro (or to many of us, Georgie) was struck while crossing the street by a speeding drunk driver.

Georgie is currently recovering in the ICU and will make a full recovery but we must keep in mind that such irresponsible actions have great consequences. Georgie could have lost his life just 3 days before his 29th birthday.

Georgie is one of the kindest, gentlest souls who sees the good in every person and does nothing but cheer on his friends and celebrate their accomplishments. He balanced two jobs, often working late nights to make money to support himself and his family.

While it made us laugh and reminded of us his light humor, one of the first things he said when he woke up was “I don’t think I’m going to go to work tomorrow.” We do not know how long he’ll be out of work for and we’re asking that anyone donate any amount towards helping him not only keep up with the costs of his daily living, but to help cover the medical bills that he will have to pay out of pocket, as well as the physical therapy that will be absolutely necessary for him to make a full recovery from the injuries sustained to his spine.

There is no one that deserves this less than Georgie and we’re asking that the community rally around him in a way that we know he would rally around any one of us.
