Hi everyone,
My name is Adonai, and my brother is Baruch. We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to share that our father, Jorge, who lives in Mexico, recently suffered a stroke that has left the right side of his body completely paralyzed. As a result, he is unable to perform basic tasks like eating, going to the bathroom, or even moving without assistance.
In just two weeks, his condition worsened, and swallowing became too difficult. He was hospitalized, and a feeding tube was installed to ensure he gets the nutrition and medications he needs.
I spent two weeks with my parents to help care for my father and witnessed firsthand how overwhelming it is. My mother, who has been providing 24/7 care, is physically and emotionally drained. While her family helps with brief moments of relief, it’s clear she cannot do it alone. The strain is unsustainable. I took night shifts so my mother could rest, but I quickly learned how little sleep one gets with no help—just two hours of uninterrupted rest each night. Without additional support, my mother would be at risk of burnout.
Unfortunately, our parents are unable to work due to our father's condition, and mother struggles to balance work and caregiving. Since they are not eligible for worker’s medical insurance in Mexico, they’ve been paying for all medical expenses out of pocket, draining their savings, which is not something they can manage long term.
While our families wish they could do more, the distance between us in the United States and my parents in Mexico makes it difficult to provide the level of support they need. The funds we raise will directly cover the costs of dedicated care for my father, as well as specialists like physical therapists, speech therapists, and a nutritionist. Doctors are hopeful that with the right care, my father can make significant progress.
100% of the funds raised will be used to support our father’s care over the next three months. My brother and I have modest salaries, and we cannot provide as much as we would like right now, so your support—no matter how small—will make a meaningful difference in ensuring that our father gets the care he needs and that our mother can continue to provide him with the loving support he deserves.
Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. Your support means the world to us and gives us hope during this challenging time.
