Support Jorge's Journey to a Safer Life

My name is Treston Wheat, and I am starting this fundraiser for my friend Jorge.

Jorge is a recent immigrant to America seeking asylum to escape the extreme violence of his home in Ecuador. He is reaching out to ask for your support in building a better, safer life for him and his family. Jorge fled from Ecuador to escape the violence and danger of gang activity. As too often happens, Jorge was targeted by gangs for no other reason than they wanted to steal from hard working people. Following violent attacks and hospitalizations, Jorge made the tough decision to emigrate with his girlfriend and start a new life. It was a difficult decision to leave his home, but he needed to protect himself and his future.

Since being in America, Jorge has worked extremely hard to build a life here, but it has not been easy. He is currently working as a dog groomer, which is his passion, and he’s grateful that he can work here. However, life circumstances mean that is not enough. There are two problems he is facing. First, Jorge has epilepsy, but insurance and medication are incredibly expensive for this problem. He desperately needs a primary care physician and neurologist here in America to manage his epilepsy. In addition, he has found out that his girlfriend is pregnant, and they’re expecting a baby boy in about six months. Although Jorge is beyond excited about becoming a father, the financial strain is weighing heavily on them as they prepare for his arrival.

I’m asking for your help to cover the cost of Jorge’s epilepsy medication, prenatal care for his girlfriend, and essentials for the baby. Any donation, no matter how small, will help them get through this difficult time and start their journey as a family in America with less fear and more hope.
