Our family is asking for help for someone who has always been the one helping others.
At just 50 years old, my dad, Jorge has been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. This diagnosis has been devastating and completely unexpected. For over 30 years, he has been a hardworking, dedicated member of our community, working for Davey Tree, Trees Inc., and most recently Backflow Testing of water meters all over California. He has shown up every day to work, worked hard, paid his bills, and taken pride in providing for himself and his family.
Now, he is unable to work while undergoing aggressive treatments. The physical toll of stage 4 esophageal cancer has made it impossible for him to maintain employment or keep up with the responsibilities of maintaining his home.
As a family, we are doing everything we can to support him. However, the financial burden is quickly becoming more than we can manage alone.
We are raising funds to help cover:
Travel expenses to and from cancer treatments at City of Hope, as he’s not allowed to be alone in their housing.
Monthly living expenses: utilities, mortgage, basic property maintenance while he focuses on healing, and medical-related costs not covered by insurance.
Our hope is to help ease his financial stress so he can focus fully on treatment and recovery. These funds will help bridge the gap until disability benefits begin or until he is healthy enough to return to work.
If you know my dad, you know he is not someone who asks for help. He has always been the first to lend a hand, offer support, or show up when someone needed him. Now we are asking for the community to rally around him in his time of need.
Any donation, no matter the amount, means more than we can express. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page and keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
