On December 28th, Jorge went out to buy food for his children and was unexpectedly detained by ICE, despite his legal status. He never came back home that day, leaving his family in shock and facing an uncertain future. Jorge has spent the past 25 years working in New York City, where he has touched the lives of hundreds of people, especially within the pastry community. As a skilled professional and natural teacher, Jorge has trained and mentored countless cooks and interns, earning the respect of his peers and supervisors. His positive spirit and dedication have made a lasting impact on every team he has worked with.

Now, Jorge’s wife Gladys and their two young children, Jorge Jr. and Kevin, are left to navigate this difficult time on their own. Gladys is doing her best to support the family, but the sudden loss of Jorge’s presence and income has made it incredibly hard to make ends meet.
