I'm Patty, Jota's sister as many know him. We found out a few months ago that he has an incurable but treatable type of cancer called "Waldenström Macroglobulonemia", it originates in the bone marrow, causing a number of symptoms that he has been having for years and he is just now able to name his condition.

Jota has been a sailboat crew member in many parts of the world, a painter of landscapes that he has seen through his own eyes, his guitar has accompanied many friends and family from Chile to Venezuela, New Zealand, New York and Montreal. He has worked in several well known advertising agencies as an art director and his paintings and creativity, as well as his humor have accompanied many in his life and now he needs your help.

In the last two years he has gone from being an athlete and creative in many ways, to walking with a cane, always in a lot of pain, to having two surgeries, one for a total hip replacement and a lumbar fusion, in the first one he was "anemic" and had to have a blood transfusion, in the second one, his blood levels were not fully recovered, He was still very sore, with extreme tiredness, his extremities numb, constant dermatitis, and other symptoms that led the doctors to send him a bone marrow puncture, which showed a type of cancer that keeps him almost always in extreme tiredness and neuropathies since his white blood cells do not develop normally.

He must receive chemotherapy for six months. We his family are constantly taking turns to accompany him to New York City where he has lived for 25 years, constantly driving him to Montreal to give him the emotional support and care he requires after the infusions.

Jota needs your help, even though his insurance covers everything related to the treatment and chemotherapy, but only in New York City, our family does not have enough resources to cover the expenses derived from this period of treatment. His stay, food, transportation and necessary care for him and the person who takes care of him, some medicines that are not covered by his insurance, besides the months that he cannot work or support himself.

Many of us know the love, kindness and creativity that has accompanied him throughout his life, it is time to show him that nothing has been in vain, that there are no coincidences and that moving forward is and should be his only concern, since the resources thanks to your contribution, can help to cover the expenses that are generated with this condition.

Jota needs us this time. If his art, his paintings, his connection with the sea, his sailing adventure around the world, his guitar, his intelligent jokes, his laughter, his way of being and his life, touched yours in some way, supporting him would be the most beautiful thing you can give him. Whatever you want and can contribute, as we know that every contribution is useful and gratitude will always be present for him.

Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
