Hope International University SGA team would like to help Jorge Perez and his family with covering the cost of any medical bills, and funeral expenses, during a time like this, finances should not feel like a burden.

Jorge, our beloved SGA president has lost his battle with brain cancer. Jorge was diagnosed in May with Stage 4 Diffused Midline Glioma, in other words, Terminal Brain Cancer, and was given a year to live. He went through radiation and clinical trials in the hopes of a miracle.

Jorge is well known around our campus as he was on the men's soccer team, a leader at his youth church group, was starting his own clothing business, working at Disneyland, leading the student body and is a part of the school's Christian club, The Well. Jorge has always been healthy and active, playing soccer since he was 4 years old. Jorge was getting ready to take on the role of being our SGA President when he went to the ER in March, and they found a tumor.

Jorge fulfilled his mission and is at peace with our God who he loved so much. He is home and watching over us with his contagious smile, our brightest star, our guardian angel.

Our hearts and prayers are with the Perez family, his teamates, the SGA team, his friends and the HIU community as he touched so many lives.
